About Playwam

computerwork2Playwam is a member of the Early Years Partnership and Playgroup Network. It is a non profit-making organisation which is run by a committee of parents whose children attend Playwam. All parents are encouraged to take an active role on the committee. It is an Equal Opportunities Playgroup.

Playwam takes children from 2½ years. It caters for their needs up to the age of entry into Infant Reception, thus providing a stable and very happy environment in which to play and develop.

Opening hours are from 8.45am and 12.30 pm. Monday - Friday. These are flexible within 30 minutes either side, to allow for parents to deliver sibling to school etc. Term dates follow those of London Borough Richmond upon Thames.

The main intake of children is in September, although occasional places may become available due to children leaving the area.

The parents' committee meets with the staff every half term to discuss the general running of the pre-school and relevant childcare and educational policies and procedures. Social events such as concerts, day trips and parties are also arranged (for both parents and children) and we welcome and encourage both new and existing members to participate.

Parents & carers are expected to take an active role in the running of Playwam, not only joining our very sociable committee but spending an hour every half term to help with the 'craft' washing up. Experience shows that working in partnership with our parents, produces confident and well adjusted children.

Should you be looking for a pre-school playgroup, we hope that you and your child will come and spend some time at Playwam. Sally Allen, our Playleader, and her staff will make you very welcome.
